Richard Arnoff - Chief Executive Officer Phyllis Arnoff - Executive Vice President
After one year on the road as an owner-operator, Richard traded his tractor trailer for a college career. During Orientation Week at Rider College, after a movie called "High Noon," Richard and Phyllis met, and it was love at first sight. They were married while still in college – Phyllis received her degree in 1955 and Dick received his a year later. After graduation, with his BS degree in hand, Dick took a position with northAmerican Van Lines/Roe Movers as a Sales Manager. Phyllis stayed home to raise the family, which included two sons – Marc and Michael, and became a vital part of the Poughkeepsie community. Phyllis not only did volunteer work, but also took on the leadership of several organizations.
After four years with northAmerican/Roe Movers, Dick took a job working for an Allied Van Lines agent, and three years later, decided to go home to the family moving business. Upon arrival in the fall of 1963, Dick found one van, one employee, and two very tired people – his parents. His work was cut out for him. Shortly after his return, IBM engaged his services as a consultant to orchestrate a relocation plan at its new facility in Fishkill, New York.
This plan was the foundation of growth for Arnoff Moving & Storage, as it was necessary for Dick to supply seven men and equipment for seven days a week for a year to fulfill IBM's needs. Phyllis came into the business with Dick, and together, with a lot of hard work, Arnoff Moving & Storage grew to become the moving company you see today. Along the way, their two sons, Marc and Michael, joined the company in managerial positions. Dick has been a member of the board of directors of Salisbury Bank and Trust Company, Lovell Safety Management Corporation, Chamber of Commerce, American Mover's, and the Hudson Valley Mover's Association.
