MOVE FOR HUNGER AND ARNOFF MOVING & STORAGE TEAM UP AS PART OF THE GREAT northAMERICAN FOOD DRIVE

Poughkeepsie, NY – Arnoff Moving & Storage and Move For Hunger, a national hunger relief non-profit organization, announced today that they are teaming up on a local food drive as part of the Great northAmerican Food Drive, a national campaign with northAmerican Van Line agents. Arnoff will be collecting food in the local community to benefit Dutchess Outreach. Arnoff is one of more than 20 other northAmerican Van Line agents hosting a food drive across the country.

Move For Hunger and northAmerican Van Lines have been partners since 2013. Since that time, 76 northAmerican agents have combined to collect over 500,000 lbs of food (over 400,000 meals) and transported it to those in need at a local food bank in the area.

“We are thrilled to partner up with northAmerican Van Lines on this project,” says Adam Lowy, Executive Director and Founder of Move For Hunger. They’ve been an amazing supporter of ours for many years and have answered the call, literally, time and time again whenever there was food that needed rescuing.”

This nationwide initiative could not come at a more important time. Because of the pandemic, 17 million more people are struggling to find their next meal. In total, over 54 million Americans including 1 in 4 kids are considered food insecure.

northAmerican agents will be holding their own “Front Porch Food Drive,” a new initiative from Move For Hunger last year. “We needed a way to collect food but also stay socially distant,” says Lowy. “Our team came up with the idea of the ‘Front Porch Food Drive’ as a way to collect food without any face-to-face interaction.”

To gather the food, Arnoff will be passing out bags to people’s homes during the week of March 29. They’ll ask residents to fill those bags with unused, non-perishable food and leave it outside on specific date. That’s when Arnoff Moving & Storage employees will go back around to collect all of the food and then deliver it to Dutchess Outreach.

Over the past decade, Move For Hunger’s network of relocation professionals and multi-family properties has collected and delivered more than 22 million pounds of food – providing over 18 million meals – to food banks and pantries across the United States and Canada. Move For Hunger has also helped host nearly 4,000 food drives, but never has one been on the scale of the Great northAmerican Food Drive.

“When northAmerican came to us with this idea, we immediately jumped at the chance,” says Lowy.  “Each of these food drives will be really impactful in the local community, but when you combine all of the participating northAmerican Van Lines agents from across the country, we’ll be able to feed tens of thousands of people if not more.”
