Our September issue of Experts in the Field falls during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, so we are shadowing one of our Class B CDL drivers, Marty Krieck.

It was a gorgeous morning in Canaan, NY to help a family pack up their belongings for a long-distance move. Marty and his two team members divided up the home and began packing items. Adding a packing service to your move ensures that your items are packed safely and securely by experts, whether it’s going to storage or across the world.

Marty is celebrating his fifth year as part of the Arnoff team, and he’s certainly not new to the business. Before joining Arnoff, he worked for another moving company traveling across the country. When he found out he was having a child, he traded in the traveling for family time. He loves that at the end of each day he gets to go home and spend time with his family. (Taking some time to hit up his favorite spot at the Jersey Shore with them occasionally).

So, what does a Class B CDL driver do? Marty handles household moving and packing in the Malta, New York area. He also will help on commercial rigging jobs. Like many of our experts, he has a little bit of experience in all of Arnoff’s major service areas.

Marty’s favorite part of the job is the variation. Each day is something new and you never know what you’re going to see or what you’re going to learn the next day.

Speaking of learning, COVID has brought new needs in our community and Marty has had the opportunity to work on these, working with schools to move around classrooms to help with social distancing and partnering with colleges to pack up items left behind when the pandemic closed the schools down while students were on spring break. These jobs that have become a norm for us, have provided new experiences for the team.

Memorable parts of the job for Marty are the houses he worked in when helping families move. Our Malta facility services Lake George area and he has seen some amazing lake houses in that area.

If you’re looking to get into the moving business, here’s what advice Marty has for you: try to stay healthy so you can keep moving - long days can really wear on you. But this job also can keep you healthy. (Some of the school jobs mean doing 80 flights of stairs in a day!)

We recently had a customer give some kind words on how her moving experience went: “Just want you to know how awesome Marty and his guys were! It was a long hot day – they were so pleasant, accommodating and just plan sweet…”

Awesome job to our Expert in the Field – Marty Krieck.
